Originally founded in 1992 and home to 30 dedicated employees, Altachem is the world’s leader in the development and production of valves, application tools and accessories for 1K-PU foam (1 component PU foam) in pressurized cannisters. With a turnover of more than 25 million euros and a continued focus on further growth and innovation, Altachem retains a strong position in the world of 1K-PU foam, adhesives and sealants. In 2023, Altachem received Agoria’s Factory of the Future award, an industry award for manufacturing companies that use the most advanced digital technologies to implement intelligent and sustainable processes.

Wouter Van Haute, Operations Manager Altachem:

“Thanks to the operations platform of 24Flow, our production process kept on running smoothly during the upgrade process of our SAP ERP-system. 24Flow enables us to digitally and transparently support and follow-up on processes on the shopfloor. Thanks to its low-code capabilities, we can adapt the applications to our needs, without huge effort or investment costs. 24Flow is one of Altachem’s key technology partners, and we are extremely proud that our efforts have been recognized by Agoria’s Factory of the Future award.”

In its strife for operational excellence, Altachem is continuously seeking to improve its production operations. Increasing real-time visibility on the shopfloor by leveraging digital technology is central to Altachem’s vision, because it empowers operators and is a solid foundation for automation. Digitalization further reduces errors and eventually leads to increased quality and efficiency.

In order to achieve this vision, Altachem selected 24Flow. Altachem was especially charmed by the flexibility and speed with which 24Flow allows to digitize production processes, something that was lacking in Altachem’s ERP system. Furthermore, 24Flow provided Altachem an elegant solution to decouple a pending upgrade of the ERP system from the day-to-day shopfloor operations, ensuring production continuity at all times.

At Altachem, 24Flow is used amongst others  for inbound and outbound management of goods as well as steering and guiding Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). These applications perfectly fit 24Flow’s vision as  an operations platform that connects machines, software and people.

Altachem takes a step-by-step approach where it identifies incremental improvements with a quick ROI which are then realized through 24Flow’s configurable, off-the-shelf and mobile compatible apps. As an example, digital work instructions is a new area that is currently being explored.

Wouter Van Haute, Operations Manager at Altachem, comments “Thanks to the operations platform of 24Flow, our production process kept on running smoothly during the upgrade process of our SAP ERP-system.

In sum, 24Flow brings the following advantages to Altachem:

An operations platform that brings visibility and empowerment to the shop floor, allowing operators to get information, decide and act.

A digital first platform that bans paper or loose excel sheets.

A future-proof and secure platform that can easily be extended and adapted based on new needs, as they arise.
